Mexico's economy grew 0.9% in the third quarter, INEGI estimates
The flash estimate is not the final tally. Against the third quarter of 2025, which had contracted, annual growth is 3.2%.
Mexico's economy grew 0.9% in the third quarter of 2026 from the second, according to a flash estimate of gross domestic product from the national statistics agency, INEGI, released Friday. Compared with July-September 2025, output rose 3.2%. Both figures are adjusted for inflation and seasonality.
GDP is the value of everything the country produces. The flash estimate comes 30 days after the quarter ends, built from the first two months of data and statistical models for the third. It does not replace the standard calculation, which can revise it.
Services, which include retail and employ most Mexican workers, grew 1.1% from the previous quarter. Industry and construction rose 0.8%. Farming and related activities fell 0.4%.
| Group | Vs. Q2 2026 | Vs. Q3 2025 |
|---|---|---|
| Total | 0.9 | 3.2 |
| Services | 1.1 | 3.3 |
| Industry and construction | 0.8 | 3.1 |
| Farming | -0.4 | 1.8 |
It is the second straight quarter of growth. The first quarter ended with a 0.3% contraction, and the second, now revised, with a 1.4% gain; the July estimate had put it at 1.5%. From January through September, GDP is up 1.9% from the same period of 2025.
The annual figure is measured against a weak third quarter of 2025, when the economy shrank 0.2% in unadjusted terms, which accounts for part of the 3.2%. Nor does it mean household incomes grew at the same pace: it is an average across the whole economy.
INEGI will publish its standard third-quarter GDP calculation in the coming weeks, and the flash estimate for the fourth quarter on Jan. 29, 2027.
