Kena: Scars of Kosmora slips to 2027 with no date
Ember Lab moved the sequel out of 2026 to polish it, and showed its island, its temples and a rideable canine companion, but has not given a quarter or price.
Kena: Scars of Kosmora will no longer launch in 2026. Ember Lab announced on October 1 on the PlayStation Blog that the sequel will arrive in 2027 on PS5, physical and digital, and on PC as a digital release only. Game Informer confirms the previous plan was this year.
The announcement is two days old and there is still no date, quarter or price. What exists is the first official breakdown of the game, which came with the delay.
What Ember Lab explains
The studio frames the change as a matter of quality. It wants a game that tops its 2021 debut, Kena: Bridge of Spirits, "at a much bigger scale", and says moving to 2027 lets it polish the expanded experience. The post is signed by Thomas Varga, writer, and Josh Grier, chief operating officer.
On content, the studio says Kena, now a trained Spirit Guide, crosses to the island of Kosmora looking for Orfio, a friend since childhood who is convinced the answers about their past and future are there. The island has four ancient cultures, each tied to an element, and one of them was destroyed by a cataclysm.
The "alchemical temples" work as dungeons, with skill challenges whose reward is transforming Kena. A crystalline canine companion tied to the island's origin also arrives: it serves as a mount to cross the map and helps in fights and puzzles.
What remains unanswered
Wccftech reports that PlayStation Publishing is now listed as publisher, unlike the first game. The PlayStation post consulted does not confirm it, so it rests on a single outlet. There is also no announcement for Xbox or Switch: only PS5 and PC are mentioned.
The next thing that could change the picture is the 2027 date, which neither the studio nor PlayStation has given.
