Apple invites press to Oct. 28 event, names no products
The "Pro and tell" invitation carries only a name, a date and a city; there will be no livestream, and the devices rumored are leaks.
Apple is gathering the press in Los Angeles on Wednesday, Oct. 28, for an event called "Pro and tell," and it has not said what it will unveil. The invitations went out Monday and carry only the name, the date and the city.
The start time comes only from The Mac Observer: 10 a.m. Pacific, which is 11 a.m. in Mexico City because the United States stays on daylight saving time until Nov. 1 and Mexico does not use it.
The event is in person. Reporters will be able to try the hardware on site, and no public livestream is planned, so the official word would come in press releases the same day.
Greg Joswiak, Apple's senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, posted the wordplay behind the event's name on X: "Can't wait to pro and tell next week."
None of what is expected is confirmed. Engadget mentions 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pros with M5 Pro or M5 Max chips, an OLED display and touch; two other outlets add an entry-level MacBook Pro, an iMac with an M6 chip and an iPad mini with an OLED screen. The versions differ from one another, and none has an identified source.
It is Apple's second product invitation in a few weeks; the previous one was called "Welcome home." TidBITS reads "Pro" as pointing to professional machines, an interpretation by the outlet and not something Apple has said.
Pricing and on-sale dates do not exist until Apple announces them that day.
