Epic Mickey: Rebrushed hits Switch 2 with a free upgrade

The Switch 2 version arrives Tuesday, Oct. 6, for about $40. Owners of the Switch 1 game upgrade at no cost and keep their saves.

Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed comes to Nintendo Switch 2 on Tuesday, Oct. 6, according to Nintendo's official release calendar. The new edition costs about $40, per GoNintendo. No Mexican peso price has been confirmed.

Anyone who already bought the remake on Switch 1, digital or cartridge, does not have to pay again. The player installs the game on the new console and downloads a patch. Save files carry over with it, according to Nintendo Wire. The costume pack is kept too for those who already had it.

The catch is buying the Switch 2 version as a separate product. THQ Nordic, the publisher, told My Nintendo News that the console counts the two editions as separate products, and that Switch 1 saves cannot be loaded into the new one.

What changes on the new console

  • Performance: THQ Nordic says it generally runs at a higher resolution and frame rate, especially in TV mode. A steady 60 frames per second is not confirmed.
  • Controls: the Joy-Con 2 let players move the paintbrush with mouse-style motion.
  • Physical release: it ships as a Game-Key Card, a card that works as a key and requires downloading the game online.
  • Content: it includes the costume pack.

The publisher announced this port in March, along with other Switch 2 titles. The exact launch time in Mexico is not confirmed.
