Modern Warfare 4 Season 1 is live with three maps and Hajin

The free update adds multiplayer maps and modes, the X01 zone in DMZ and Warzone on Nintendo Switch 2. The game is no longer available on PS4 and Xbox One.

Season 1 of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is live. Xbox announced it on X on Friday, though Call of Duty's blog puts the free update's arrival at 11 p.m. Thursday Mexico City time.

Multiplayer gets three maps: Backstab, Canyon and a reworked Shoot House. The Grind and Drop Zone modes return, and the Cronen Osprey assault rifle and the CSG-35 submachine gun join the arsenal, the official season guide says. The Ministry and Overflow maps and the Counter Attack mode are held for midseason.

Warzone adds Hajin, a battle royale map set in South Korea, and Zodiac, a compact Resurgence map built around a drone assembly plant. The Zipline Launcher, the Grabber Drone and Elite Perks arrive with them. Launch brings Battle Royale and Resurgence in Casual versions, plus Rally Point, Massive Resurgence and Loaded Resurgence. Extreme Resurgence and Rockets and Snipers follow later.

In DMZ, the X01 weapons facility adds DMZ Orders, Threat Briefing and Resupply Runs. The battle pass runs 100 tiers in a straight line, with more than 100 rewards and a catch-up system.

Two changes matter for anyone already playing. Player level resets, with optional Prestige in Multiplayer, DMZ and Warzone. And Modern Warfare 4 is no longer available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, so players still on those consoles have to move to a compatible platform that works with their Activision account.

Warzone also reaches Nintendo Switch 2 for the first time.
