K/DA returns after six years with the song FIRESTARTER
Riot released the FIRESTARTER video with Miyeon and Soyeon of (G)I-DLE plus two new voices; one outlet reports an EP for Oct. 21.
Riot Games has released "FIRESTARTER," K/DA's first song in six years, with a music video on the League of Legends YouTube channel. The game's official homepage dates the premiere to 02:00 UTC on Oct. 19, which was 20:00 on Sunday, Oct. 18, in Mexico City.
K/DA is the virtual group Riot launched in 2018 with "POP/STARS," made up of four League champions: Ahri, Akali, Evelynn and Kai'Sa. Ahri and Akali return with the voices of Miyeon and Soyeon, members of (G)I-DLE. Evelynn and Kai'Sa have new performers: Canadian singer Sophie Powers and British singer Mimi Webb, according to Gamemeca and Inven Global.
The animation is by Fortiche, the studio behind Arcane and the "POP/STARS" video. Inven Global adds that Sean Bankhead directed the choreography.
It is the group's first release since "ALL OUT," the five-track EP that came out in November 2020. Inven Global also reports an EP with the same name as the new song, due Oct. 21. Gamemeca does not mention it, and the date does not yet appear in an official Riot source.
There is also no official announcement of themed skins. Riot did put the video's tagline on its homepage: "Can you take the heat?"
Still pending is Riot's confirmation of the EP's date and track list.
