Inter's Lautaro Martínez out seven games with hamstring injury
The club confirmed a strain in the striker's left hamstring; coach Cristian Chivu put the absence at seven games, including the Milan derby.
Inter Milan said striker Lautaro Martínez has a strain in his left hamstring. The tests that found it were done at the Istituto Humanitas in Rozzano, near Milan, according to the club's statement.
The statement gives no recovery time. Coach Cristian Chivu supplied the length of the absence on Friday, Oct. 16, according to ESPN: seven games. Chivu said the Argentine "will be out for a while" and will probably return after the international break.
ESPN lists the games he would miss:
- Bologna, away, on Saturday, Oct. 17.
- Shakhtar Donetsk, in the Champions League, on Wednesday, Oct. 21.
- Fiorentina and Venezia.
- AC Milan, in the Milan derby on Oct. 31.
- Feyenoord and Como.
On Tuesday, Lautaro played the whole of Club Brugge's 4-3 win over Inter and scored twice, according to ESPN. Our match report has the details. The tests were done on Thursday, Oct. 15.
He would be back against Atalanta on Nov. 22, according to ESPN. That date rests on the timeline Chivu cited, which the club has not confirmed in a full medical report. The club also left the release date of its statement unclear: its page says only "yesterday".
