Surface Laptop Ultra opens pre-orders from $2,599
It ships Oct. 16, but Microsoft has not said whether it comes to Mexico or at what price. The trade-in offer does not apply there.
Anyone in Mexico who wants a Surface Laptop Ultra cannot buy one yet. Microsoft opened pre-orders in the United States on Oct. 7 from $2,599 and said shipping starts Oct. 16, but its Surface page for Mexico does not list the laptop or give a price in pesos.
According to Microsoft, the laptop will be sold in its online store and at "select retailers worldwide." The company did not say in which countries. A trade-in offer of up to $1,000 for an eligible MacBook Pro runs until Nov. 23 and applies only in the United States and Canada. Microsoft also published only the entry price, not the price of each configuration.
The machine uses NVIDIA RTX Spark, a platform that puts the processor and graphics chip together with shared memory of up to 128 GB. It has a 15-inch, 120 Hz touchscreen and weighs under 4.5 pounds (about 2 kg). Microsoft also added the Surface RTX Spark Dev Box, a desktop for developers, at $5,999. It can be reserved only in the United States and ships in November.
All the performance figures come from Microsoft and have not been tested independently. The company cites "up to 1 petaflop" of AI compute, measured in a theoretical scenario, and a display with the brightest peak HDR of any laptop, up to 2,000 nits. It did not publish battery data.
El Mediático had reported that the Surface Laptop Ultra still had no price or date. That gap closed for the United States and stays open for Mexico. ASUS, Dell, HP, Lenovo and MSI also opened pre-orders for RTX Spark laptops arriving Oct. 16, according to the company.
