Pan's Labyrinth returns to Mexican theaters on Oct. 15
Guillermo del Toro's film turns 20 with 4K and 3D screenings at more than 300 Cinépolis locations, plus a free postcard with every ticket.
Cinépolis will re-release "El laberinto del fauno" ("Pan's Labyrinth") on Oct. 15 at more than 300 locations across the country, according to Milenio. Guillermo del Toro's film turns 20, and the chain has exclusive rights to this run.
The film comes in two formats, restored in 4K and converted to 3D. Chic Magazine reports that Del Toro supervised both, and that Cinépolis says artists and technicians made the 3D version, without artificial intelligence.
The director presented the restoration at San Diego Comic-Con in July. According to Euronews, he said there was "absolutely no damn AI" and that "a human being made every depth decision."
Tickets are on presale in the chain's listings, with a choice of location and showtime. Each ticket comes with a promotional postcard of the film, handed out at the screening while supplies last.
It is not the first time this year the film has returned to a big screen. In April there were anniversary screenings at the UNAM's Casa del Lago and other venues, some of them free, according to Excélsior. Its original premiere was at Cannes on May 27, 2006.
Still unconfirmed are the ticket price and the list of locations with 3D screenings. None of the outlets consulted publishes them, and the chain's original announcement could not be found, so the date, presale and venues are worth checking on Cinépolis' website.
