Famitsu gives Final Fantasy Resonance 36 of 40 in first review
All four critics at the Japanese magazine scored it 9 out of 10. It is the only known rating so far for the game, which launches Oct. 22.
Famitsu, the Japanese video game magazine, published the first review of *Final Fantasy Resonance* on Oct. 14. According to Games.gg and Happy Gamer, each of its four critics gave it a 9 out of 10, for a total of 36 out of 40.
Famitsu's panel scores from 1 to 10 per critic, so the maximum is 40. All four gave exactly the same mark: 9, 9, 9 and 9.
Games.gg also reports the magazine's length estimates: 20 to 30 hours to finish the main story and around 70 to complete everything. Happy Gamer adds that Famitsu describes the game as a classic JRPG adventure.
Square Enix's game launches on Oct. 22, 2026, according to Nintendo's official listing, which lists it for Switch 2. None of the sources consulted here confirms the price or the full list of platforms.
There is also no detail on what the critics wrote about combat, characters or story: both sources report the score and a summary, and the full review has not been found transcribed. So far it is the only known rating, and Famitsu's score is not a substitute for the consensus of the international press.
What remains to be seen is what score the rest of the outlets publish before the Oct. 22 launch.
