GTA VI preload opens Nov. 10 on PS5 and Xbox
The preload needs up to 212 GB and starts nine days before the Nov. 19 launch, at midnight GMT on Xbox and at midnight local time on PS5.
Rockstar Games will open the preload for Grand Theft Auto VI on Tuesday, Nov. 10, on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Players can start downloading nine days before the Nov. 19 launch.
The preload needs up to 212 GB, the company says. That is the free space required to download the game early, not necessarily its final installed size.
When it opens on each console
Xbox Series X|S unlocks everywhere at once, at midnight GMT. In Mexico City, that is 18:00 (6 p.m.) on Monday, Nov. 9 (our calculation, using the current time zone).
On PS5, the preload opens at midnight local time in each time zone. A player in Mexico City starts at 12 a.m. Tuesday, six hours after Xbox owners.
Who can preload
Only people who bought the digital edition. Boxed copies contain just a download code, and they should reach stores on Nov. 12.
| What | When |
|---|---|
| Preload on Xbox Series X|S | 12 a.m. GMT on Nov. 10 (18:00, or 6 p.m., on Nov. 9 in Mexico City) |
| Preload on PS5 | 12 a.m. local time on Nov. 10 |
| Boxed editions with a code | From Nov. 12 |
| Launch | Nov. 19 |
With 212 GB on the way, clearing space before Nov. 10 is worth doing, especially on a console with a small drive. The preload leaves the game installed and ready to play on Nov. 19 without waiting on a download.
