It Takes Two arrives on Switch 2 Thursday, with a free upgrade
It costs $39.99, but Switch owners upgrade at no charge, except in four territories EA excludes.
It Takes Two, the co-op game from Hazelight Studios, launches on Nintendo Switch 2 this Thursday, Oct. 15. In Japan, Australia, New Zealand and South Korea it arrives a day later, on the 16th, according to a statement from EA, the publisher. EA does not give a launch time.
The standard edition costs $39.99. EA did not publish a price in Mexican pesos, and the Mexican eShop listing was not checked, so confirm it there before buying.
Players who already own the game on the original Switch get the Switch 2 version free. You need an internet connection, a Nintendo account and eShop access, and the game must be on that same account. The offer is not available in Japan, Korea, Hong Kong or Taiwan. EA does not list Mexico among the exclusions.
The game's official post details the upgrades. With the console docked, the game runs at 1080p and 60 frames per second even on a 4K screen. It adds higher-resolution textures, better lighting, improved visual effects and faster loading.
How to play with someone
The game is built for two players. There are three ways to set up the pair:
- Friend's Pass: a friend plays the full campaign without buying the game. You need the full version; your friend installs the free Friend's Pass trial and uses an account on their platform.
- Online across platforms: EA lists PC, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 and 5. The statement includes Switch 2 in cross-play while the game's page does not name it, so that part is not fully confirmed.
- On the same couch: GameShare connects the Switch 2 with Nintendo Switch consoles, according to EA.
EA also does not say in those texts whether an online subscription is needed to play remotely. What it does confirm is the Thursday date, the $39.99 price and the free upgrade.
