Minecraft for Switch 2 launches Oct. 27, from $29.99
Pre-orders are open for three digital editions, and owners of the Switch digital version get the Standard edition free until January 2027.
Minecraft arrives on Nintendo Switch 2 on Oct. 27, and pre-orders are already open, according to Mojang Studios on Minecraft.net. The studio and Nintendo made the announcement on Oct. 7 with three digital editions and one physical one.
All three digital editions include the Super Mario Mash-Up Pack with Vibrant Visuals, the game's graphics upgrade. The two collections add DLC packs, exclusive character creator items and Minecoins, the game's in-store currency.

The Deluxe adds the Celebration Food, Rescue Dogs and Plenty O'Blocks packs, plus three exclusive items. The Ultimate adds Decocraft and Weapons + Tools, with five exclusive items. The included Minecoins can only be spent within the Nintendo ecosystem.
Owners of the digital Switch version get the Switch 2 Standard edition for free until Jan. 31, 2027, according to Nintendo Wire. In Japan the fee is 100 yen and in Taiwan 30 Taiwan dollars. Moving up to the Deluxe or Ultimate carries a discounted fee, and the offer exists only on the Nintendo eShop. Vibrant Visuals does not work in every mode, such as split screen.
The physical version will go on sale in stores as a Game-Key Card. None of the sources consulted gives its price, the Mexican eShop price, the amount of the discounted fee, or whether the free upgrade applies to people who own the cartridge.
