Monster Hunter Wilds gets a free Switch 2 demo on Oct. 19
The prologue demo costs nothing, and the $29.99 preorder opens that day at 18:00 in Mexico City; the game launches Dec. 4.
Capcom's free demo of Monster Hunter Wilds arrives on the Switch 2 eShop on Oct. 19, Pacific time, according to the series' official account. In the U.K. it will already be Oct. 20. It is the game's prologue, and the download costs nothing.
The digital preorder starts the same day. Capcom opens it at 5 p.m. Pacific, which is 18:00 in Mexico City. During the preorder the game costs $29.99, and afterward it rises to $39.99, its regular U.S. price. The company corrected its first notice: the offer does not end Dec. 19 but on the morning of Dec. 3, a day before this version launches.
What the demo includes, according to RPG Site:
- Every weapon type available to try.
- The story up to chapter 1-3, "To the Forest".
- Local play with friends, but no online matches.
Players can also create their hunter and their Palico companion, and Nintendo Wire confirms that the save data carries over to the full game. Anyone who keeps that progress does not have to replay the opening.
The Switch 2 launch is Dec. 4. The original game came out in February 2025 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
One piece is still missing for players in Mexico: no source has published a peso price or a price for the Mexican eShop, so it is worth checking the local store when the preorder opens. It is also unknown exactly when the demo appears or how large the download is.
