Nintendo Switch Sports Resort Launches Oct. 22 on Switch 2

The game has 12 sports and costs $49.99; Nintendo has not said how many players fit in an online match.

Nintendo Switch Sports Resort launches Oct. 22, exclusively on Switch 2. It costs $49.99 and preorders are open, according to Nintendo of America, which published the game's page on Oct. 16.

The game has 12 sports. Two are new: thumb wrestling, where the winner pins the rival's thumb for three seconds, and skateboarding, which uses the Joy-Con 2 as a mouse. Golf, volleyball, basketball, tennis, table tennis, boxing, bowling, archery, plane flying and Power Cruising return. Jumping rope serves as a warm-up.

It can be played alone or with a friend, in person or online. Online play requires a Nintendo Switch Online membership, a Nintendo account and an internet connection, and it is not available in every country. Some multiplayer modes need accessories sold separately. The ESRB rating is for mild violence. Nintendo does not say how many people can play together online. The trailer that Siliconera described on Oct. 8 shows the menu options Friend Lobby, Casual Online Play and Island Crown.

Nintendo also sells a Switch 2 console bundle with the game, at $529.99 in its U.S. store. Siliconera had cited $499.99 on Oct. 8; the sources consulted do not explain the difference, so the company's most recent figure is used here.

Early impressions are favorable. GeekDad, which tried a demo, described skateboarding as "perfectly intuitive" and called the game a worthy successor to the series. No outlet has published review scores yet.

A price in Mexico is still missing: Nintendo does not list one in the sources consulted, and the Mexican store is yet to be confirmed.
