Brewers beat Dodgers 7-4 to take 2-0 NLCS lead
William Contreras tied it with a homer and put Milwaukee ahead with a single; Game 3 is tonight in Los Angeles, with Gasser against Snell.
Milwaukee took a 2-0 lead in the National League Championship Series, a best-of-seven, by coming back to beat Los Angeles 7-4 in Game 2. It was played Monday, Oct. 12, at American Family Field, according to ESPN. The Brewers had already won Game 1, 2-1.
The Dodgers took the lead three times in the first five innings and Milwaukee answered every time. In the third, a single by Christian Yelich drove in two runs. Dodgers starter Yoshinobu Yamamoto left after two and two-thirds innings with his team trailing 3-2.
In the fifth, William Contreras tied it 4-4 with a 436-foot home run to center off Kris Bubic. In the sixth he put the Brewers ahead with a single. Brice Turang and Jake Bauers added run-scoring singles in the eighth, and Milwaukee's relievers retired the last 15 Los Angeles batters without a baserunner. JoJo Romero got the win and Brock Stewart took the loss.
Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman said of the Brewers' relievers: "They all throw 100 (mph) from different angles."
Game 3 is tonight, Wednesday, Oct. 14, at Dodger Stadium: 5 p.m. PT, or 6 p.m. in Mexico City, on FS1 and FOX Deportes. Left-hander Robert Gasser starts for Milwaukee. He went 5-5 with a 3.87 ERA in the regular season. Against the Dodgers this year he allowed 7 runs in 10.2 innings, a 5.91 ERA, and Milwaukee lost both games, according to Sports Illustrated.
Left-hander Blake Snell starts for Los Angeles. In Game 2 of the division series against the Braves he lasted 3.2 innings and issued five walks. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said it was not a groin problem but mechanics and command: "He just wasn't sharp," according to Sports Illustrated.
A win tonight would put Milwaukee up 3-0. If the Dodgers win, the series reopens before Game 4.
