OpenAI models will be sold through Google Cloud
Companies will be able to pay for them with spending already committed to Google. There is no exact date or pricing.
OpenAI's models and Codex, its coding agent, are coming to Google Cloud's Model Garden, a catalog where that cloud offers third-party models. OpenAI announced it Wednesday and says general availability will arrive "in the coming weeks."
Companies will buy them through the Google Cloud Marketplace and can count the cost against spending they have already committed to Google. In practice, using an OpenAI model will not require a separate contract with another provider.
The announcement gives no prices, exact date, regions or list of specific models.
Greg Brockman, OpenAI's president and co-founder, called the partnership "an important step" in putting its models "where customers are already building." Thomas Kurian, Google Cloud's chief executive, spoke of offering "a broad selection of models."
OpenAI adds that its models will arrive "soon" in Google Antigravity and Gemini Agent, both Google products, also with no date. It stresses that Microsoft remains its primary cloud partner.
Where the change comes from
OpenAI has been free to sell outside Microsoft since April, when the exclusivity agreement expired; it had already reached Amazon Web Services. Google Cloud has offered the open-weight gpt-oss models in its catalog since August 2025. What is new is the most advanced models and Codex, which are also bought through the Marketplace.
None of this has been tested independently, and Google Cloud has not published an announcement of its own. OpenAI puts general availability only in the coming weeks.
