Touch-screen MacBook Pro from $3,455 (64,999 pesos) in Mexico

Apple opened preorders for its first touch-screen Mac. It ships Nov. 6, and the mini-LED model costs about $1,063 (20,000 pesos) less.

Apple's first touch-screen Mac is up for preorder in Mexico from about $3,455 (64,999 pesos, at 18.81 pesos per dollar on Oct. 29), Apple's Mexican store shows.

It ships Nov. 6, the listing says, and buyers can split the cost into 18 interest-free monthly installments of 3,611.06 pesos ($192 at that rate).

The company, which unveiled the laptop on Wednesday, calls it the first Mac with a touch display. It comes in 14- and 16-inch sizes with an M5 Pro or M5 Max chip, up to 128 GB of unified memory (shared by the processor and graphics) and up to 16 TB of storage.

The PROLED XDR screen uses tandem OLED technology. Apple advertises up to 1,000 nits of sustained brightness, 2,000 at peak, a 10,000,000:1 contrast ratio and up to 24 hours of battery life. Those are the company's own numbers, and there are no independent tests yet because the laptop doesn't reach customers until Nov. 6.

"The world's best laptop display," said Johny Srouji, Apple's hardware chief.

A non-touch version stays on sale. Apple Mexico lists a 14-inch MacBook Pro with an M6 chip and a mini-LED display from 44,999 pesos ($2,392), roughly 20,000 pesos ($1,063) below the new line's entry price. That one is not a preorder.

In the United States, Apple prices each configuration:

Apple's Mexican page shows only the entry price, so the 16-inch and M5 Max versions have no peso price yet. The global press release doesn't list the launch countries either; the Mexican figure comes from the local store.

A preorder doesn't guarantee Nov. 6 for every configuration. Apple confirms the delivery date when the order is placed.
