HBO Max to premiere Valentín Elizalde documentary series Nov. 12
The platform unveiled the poster for "Valentín: La muerte del Gallo de Oro," an HBO original built on new voices and archival material about the singer.
HBO Max will premiere "Valentín: La muerte del Gallo de Oro," a documentary series on the late Mexican singer Valentín Elizalde, on Nov. 12, HBO Max Latin America announced Wednesday on X. The post carried the poster for the HBO original.
"Twenty years after his death," the message says, "new voices and archival material" revisit questions about the singer's story.
The announcement does not say how many episodes there are, who directed the series or who is interviewed.
Elizalde, known as "El Gallo de Oro" (the Golden Rooster), was a leading voice of Mexican regional music. The nickname gives the series its title and shows up on the poster, which pictures him in a black hat and leather jacket next to a golden rooster.
It is a documentary, not a scripted biopic.
Viewers in Mexico will need an HBO Max subscription to watch it starting Thursday, Nov. 12.
