Netflix orders a limited Bridgerton series on young Lady Violet
Shondaland will develop the romance of Violet and Edmund Bridgerton, parents of the show's central family; no title, cast or date yet.
Netflix and Shondaland ordered a limited series set in the *Bridgerton* universe. It will tell how Violet and Edmund Bridgerton, the parents of the eight siblings in the original show, met and fell in love as young people. The platform announced it Thursday, Oct. 8, on Netflix Tudum.
Everything else is missing: the series has no title, and the platform has not named an actress for the young Violet or a release date.
Shonda Rhimes and Nicholas Nardini will be writers, showrunners and executive producers, according to Tudum. Tom Verica and Betsy Beers are also executive producers, and TVLine adds that Verica will direct.
It is the franchise's second spin-off after *Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story*, which Rhimes also created. In the main series, Ruth Gemmell plays Violet, by then a widow and head of the family. UPI reports that the announcement appeared on Instagram written as a letter from Lady Whistledown, the saga's narrator.
The news comes while season 5 of *Bridgerton* is filming in London, per Tudum. Season 6 had already been approved in May 2025.
