GTA VI reveals six in-game radio stations and on-demand podcasts
Rockstar opens a page with the game's first stations and confirms that radio will also play while you walk. The game launches Nov. 19.
Rockstar Games revealed the first six in-game radio stations of Grand Theft Auto VI on Oct. 8, on a music page of its website. It is the first time the studio has named stations and hosts for the game, which launches Nov. 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, a day after the Miami Heat's Vice City-themed game.
The page lists these stations, each with two hosts:
- Cocoteo: current Latin music, with El Martillo and La Gata.
- Back Country: country, with MW and Delta Dawne.
- Afro Bank FM: amapiano and African classics, with Burna and Palmsy.
- The Chamber: metal, with DJ Kerry and DJ Tom.
- Flash FM: pop, with Robyn and Alex.
- Dirty South Classics: classic Southern rap, with Trick and Trina.
Rockstar uses character names. Gaming Age links them to real artists, among them Burna Boy, Robyn, Slayer's Kerry King, Tom Araya, Trick Daddy and Lana Del Rey. That match comes from the outlet, not from the official page.
The studio says the lineup of stations and podcasts will be the "biggest and widest-ranging" the series has had. On-demand podcasts are new, and according to Gaming Age and NME, both they and the radio can be played on foot, through earbuds connected to the character's phone.
Game Informer heard 18 songs in the preview, three per station, and identified them with Shazam. The list includes tracks by Bad Bunny ("EoO"), Slayer ("Raining Blood"), Pantera ("I'm Broken") and Charli xcx ("Good Ones"). The preview is a sample, not the full tracklist.
Rockstar still names no podcast, and genres such as classic rock, dance, blues and talk radio are listed without an assigned station.
