Bayern routs Leipzig 6-1 as Luis Díaz scores a hat trick
Díaz scored in the 12th, 47th and 69th minutes at the Allianz Arena; Bayern reached 14 points, level with Dortmund, and leads on goal difference.
Luis Díaz scored three times as Bayern Munich routed RB Leipzig 6-1. The match was played on Saturday, Oct. 17, at the Allianz Arena, in round 6 of the Bundesliga, Germany's top league.
The Colombian opened the scoring in the 12th minute, set up by Joshua Kimmich. Aleksandar Pavlovic extended the lead in the 26th after a pass from Díaz, and Michael Olise made it 3-0 in the 34th after a give-and-go with Harry Kane. Bayern led by three goals at halftime.
Díaz scored his second just after the restart, in the 47th minute, from a Kane pass, according to ESPN. Kane got the fifth in the 52nd minute from a cutback by Nathaniel Brown; ESPN lists it at 52 in its goal list and 53 in its text, and beIN SPORTS says 52. It was his 100th Bundesliga match and his 102nd league goal, according to ESPN. Díaz completed the hat trick in the 69th, and Andrija Maksimovic pulled one back for Leipzig in the 90th minute plus one.
With the win, Bayern reached 14 points, the same as Dortmund, but with a better goal difference: plus 17 against plus 7. Dortmund drew 0-0 that day at Union Berlin. Freiburg, third with 13 points and a game in hand, can overtake Bayern if it wins on Sunday at Leverkusen.
On Wednesday Bayern hosts Arsenal in the Champions League. ESPN says Olise will be suspended for that match. beIN SPORTS does not mention it, and a statement from the club or UEFA confirming it is still missing.
