Patriots Rout Raiders 45-17 as Maye Scores Five Touchdowns

Drake Maye threw four touchdown passes and ran for another, and Fernando Mendoza, the top pick in the draft, made his NFL debut late in the game.

The New England Patriots routed the Las Vegas Raiders 45-17 on Sunday at Gillette Stadium in Week 5 of the NFL. Both teams finished 3-2: New England is past the 50 % win mark for the first time this year, and Las Vegas lost its second straight game after starting 3-0, according to CBS Sports.

Maye finished with 374 passing yards on 26 completions in 34 attempts and four touchdowns, with no interceptions. He ran seven times for 25 yards and scored himself from three yards out. His touchdown passes covered 35 and 8 yards to DeMario Douglas, 11 to Hunter Henry and 34 to Kyle Williams. His 76.5 % completion rate is his best of the year, according to CBS Sports.

Douglas opened the scoring at 7-0 and Brock Bowers tied it for Las Vegas. Rhamondre Stevenson made it 14-7 with a 5-yard run, and Maye found Henry for 21-7 before halftime. After the break came Williams (28-7), Maye himself, kicker Matt Gay with a 46-yard field goal, Dylan Laube with the first rushing touchdown of his career and Douglas again.

Cousins left the game with a little more than six minutes to play and Mendoza, the first overall pick in the draft, came in for his regular-season debut. He led a ten-play, 54-yard drive that ended in a turnover on downs. In the first half, the Las Vegas defense pressured Maye on only 2 of 17 dropbacks, according to ESPN.

Bleacher Report mentions five touchdown passes for Maye in its text, but its own table and CBS Sports give four through the air and one on the ground, the figure used here. The Patriots have not yet released an official report on the players who left the game injured.
