Putellas and Kane win the 2026 Ballon d'Or in London
Putellas takes a third Ballon d'Or and Bayern Munich's Harry Kane wins the men's award. Mexico's Julian Quinones placed 28th, the best finish by a Mexican.
Harry Kane and Alexia Putellas won the 2026 Ballon d'Or. Kane, the England striker who plays for Bayern Munich, and Spain's Putellas accepted the awards on Monday at the London Palladium.
Kylian Mbappé, Lamine Yamal, Rodri and Lionel Messi finished behind Kane, in that order, the official ranking shows. Journalists from the 100 top-ranked men's national teams in FIFA's ranking voted on the men's award, and those from the top 50 in the women's ranking on the women's.
Putellas had already won the award twice, so this is her third Ballon d'Or. She collects it after leaving FC Barcelona in May, following 14 seasons and 38 titles, and playing for London City Lionesses. In the Champions League she made 11 appearances with seven goals and seven assists, and Barcelona beat OL Lyonnes 4-0 in the final.
Mexico had three moments in the gala. In the men's ranking, Julian Quinones placed 28th, between Bruno Fernandes (27th) and William Saliba and Sadio Mané, tied for 29th: he is the highest-ranked Mexican on the men's list. Scarlett Camberos finished 21st in the women's ranking, and Charlyn Corral took the Striker of the Year award.
