Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 premieres on Netflix on Oct. 20
All ten episodes arrive the same day. The story stands apart from season one, so there is no need to have watched it.
*Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2*, the new installment of the anime set in the world of *Cyberpunk 2077*, arrives on Netflix on Tuesday, Oct. 20. According to Netflix Tudum, the platform releases the full season that day, with ten episodes.
It is not a direct sequel. The series shares Night City with the first season but follows a new crew of mercenaries, with a different voice cast and a refreshed animation style. Kotaku en Español reports that David and Lucy, the leads of season one, do not return, and that the story wraps up within the ten episodes.
Netflix describes the season as "a raw chronicle of redemption and revenge in a city that thrives on violence."
Who is behind it
According to Anime Corner, Studio Trigger animates the series again. Kai Ikarashi directs, Masahiko Otsuka writes the script, Ichigo Kanno designs the characters, and Bartosz Sztybor is showrunner and producer.
The trailer and poster introduce four leads:
- Weak Kingsley, a mercenary with years on the job.
- D, a netrunner from the Snake Nation who wants to avenge his clan. Koki Uchiyama voices him in Japanese.
- Roman Carax, a young film buff who documents real lives.
- Talia Yang, a freelance fighter trained in the corporate world and hardened in Maelström.
Netflix confirmed the date in August, when it released the first trailer. Because the season arrives complete and does not depend on the first one, it can be watched straight through over the weekend.
Still pending: the platform has not announced the release time in Mexico or the English and Latin American Spanish voice casts.
