GTA VI can be preloaded starting Nov. 12
Digital buyers will have the game installed a week before the Nov. 19 launch, but Rockstar has not said when it unlocks.
*Grand Theft Auto VI* will be available to preload on Nov. 12, seven days before its Thursday, Nov. 19, launch on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, according to Rockstar Games' official store.
Digital buyers can install the game that day, but they cannot play it until launch.
Boxed copies come without a disc. The box holds only a download code, meant for the preload, which is redeemed in the console's store. Rockstar has not announced a PC version.
There is still no exact unlock time. Rockstar, PlayStation and Xbox have not published one, nor the size of the download or the modes of the PS5 Pro version. Time-zone charts are circulating, but third parties made them. Rockstar's wording when it opened pre-orders in June, midnight local time, is no guide: it does not say whether the unlock will follow each player's time zone or the region of their store.
Purchases made before Nov. 20 include the Vintage Vice City Pack at no extra cost. The Ultimate Edition adds one free month of GTA+.
| What | When |
|---|---|
| Preload opens | Thursday, Nov. 12 |
| Vintage Vice City Pack bonus ends | Purchases before Nov. 20 |
| Launch | Thursday, Nov. 19 |
Rockstar set Nov. 19 after pushing the game back from May 2026, and the Launch Trailer posted Oct. 15 already carried that date.
Both dates are Thursdays, so anyone who wants to be playing on the 19th as soon as it unlocks has a full week to download.
