New Layton game gets Spanish voices, Level-5 confirms
The game launches Dec. 10 with voice dubbing in nine languages, but the company has not said which kind of Spanish or who will voice the characters.
Professor Layton and the New World of Steam will have Spanish voices. Level-5 confirmed voice dubbing in nine languages: Japanese, U.S. and U.K. English, Mandarin Chinese, French, Italian, German, Spanish and Korean.
The series' official account posted the list Thursday night and said the team had heard fans' questions and concerns about the language of the voices.
The announcement says only "Spanish." It does not specify whether the dub will be in Castilian Spanish from Spain, neutral Spanish or Latin American Spanish, a distinction that matters to Spanish-speaking players in the Americas. Earlier installments with Spanish voices used Castilian.
There is no cast list either. Jordi Varela, Layton's voice in Castilian, died in 2022, and Level-5 has not said who will replace him or whether the actors from earlier installments will return.
The company says it is putting the final touches on the game and will share more details soon. The game launches Dec. 10 on Switch, Switch 2, PS5 and PC.
