Gundam Battle Operation 3 announced for PS5 and Steam
The free-to-play sequel adds an SP skill and graphics upgrades, and its official account promises PS5-Steam crossplay. No release date yet.
Bandai Namco unveiled Mobile Suit Gundam Battle Operation 3 on Wednesday, the next game in its free-to-play series of team battles between giant mobile suits. It is headed to PlayStation 5 and to PC through Steam, with no release date yet.
The 1-minute-21-second trailer touts three additions: an SP Skill feature meant to "turn the tide of battle," major graphical improvements and crossplay between PS5 and Steam. Only the series' official account, @GBO_EN, makes the crossplay claim; the game's Steam page does not mention it.
The Steam listing describes tactical team combat, on-foot missions outside the cockpit such as planting base bombs or calling in fire support, and a home base that doubles as a social space. Bandai Namco Forge Digitals is developing it and Bandai Namco Entertainment is publishing.
Spanish-speaking players should note that Steam lists English, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, Japanese and Korean. Spanish is not among them.
It follows Battle Operation 2, which remains free on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and PC. Traces of a "Network Test Version" of the new game had appeared on SteamDB since September, before any announcement.
For now, the only thing available is a wishlist, open on Steam and the PlayStation Store. The company has not said whether network tests are planned or what players will be able to buy in the game.
