Modern Warfare 4: release date, editions and storage you need
It launches Oct. 23 on four platforms; the campaign is already playable on digital copies, and the gap between editions is $30.
Modern Warfare 4 launches Friday, Oct. 23, at 00:00 local time for each player, on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2, according to Activision's official page. PS4 and Xbox One are left out, and Game Pass does not include it on launch day, GamingBible reports.
If you bought the game digitally, the campaign is already open, and has been since Oct. 16. DMZ arrives Tuesday, Oct. 20, also only for those early digital purchases. The physical Standard edition has no early access.
There are two digital editions and one physical. Vault costs $30 more than Standard, and that is also the paid upgrade for anyone who already bought the digital Standard. The physical copy, for PS5 and Xbox Series X, cannot be upgraded to Vault.
| Edition | Price | What it includes | Early access |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard digital | 69.99 | The game | Campaign from Oct. 16 |
| Vault digital | 99.99 | Two operator packs, the Signature weapons collection, one BlackCell season and a DMZ deployment bonus | Campaign from Oct. 16 |
| Standard physical (PS5 and Xbox Series X) | 69.99 | The game | No |
Those prices are the ones that outlet reports, not the official store's, and none of the sources consulted gives a price in Mexican pesos.
Disk space is the other cost. On PC, Activision asks for an SSD with 115 GB free, TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot, and warns that "other security measures may be enforced." The requirements for each hardware tier are in the earlier piece on requirements.
There is no official figure for consoles. The sizes come from store listings collected by Gamerfuzion:
- PS5: about 117 GB with the content packs, and about 159 GB if the Warzone pack is added.
- Xbox: about 194 GB.
- Switch 2: 77.3 GB or 84.9 GB, depending on the source.
It is still unknown when preloading opens on PS5, Xbox and Switch 2: the sources consulted give no date. On PC it opened Oct. 15 at 10:00 a.m. Mexico City time.
